California Winter – Journey

California Winter – A Journey Between Desert and Pacific

Two months between desert and Pacific. Between familiar roads and new perspectives.

California in winter is not a loud adventure.
It is more a quiet kind of discovery.

Light over the desert.
Morning coffee in the garden.
Roads that disappear somewhere between ocean and horizon.

This page brings together the chapters of our journey – not as a list, but as a memory.

Prologue – The Beginning in the Air

Every journey begins somewhere.
Sometimes at a front door.
Sometimes at an airport.
And sometimes above the clouds.

Ours began on a plane – somewhere between fatigue, anticipation, and the quiet question of whether California would still feel the way we remembered.

✈️ One Seat, One System, and Twelve Hours of Time
The beginning of a journey – somewhere between Hamburg, Munich, and Los Angeles.

Chapter 1 – Arriving in Los Angeles

Every journey has that one moment when it truly begins.

Not when booking.
Not when packing.
And not somewhere above the clouds.

But with that first step into different air.

Los Angeles does not welcome us loudly.
Rather quietly.

A smile at the border.
Suitcases that take their time.
A first drive through familiar streets.

And somewhere between jet lag, pizza, and the Pacific, it finally begins – this journey.

🌴 Los Angeles – Arriving Between Routine, Reality, and a Shift in Perspective
Between passport control, pizza, and charred palm trees.

Chapter 2 – The Desert

For us, California begins at the Pacific.

And yet this journey keeps leading us away from the ocean.
To where the landscape becomes wider, quieter – and clearer.

Into the desert.

In the Coachella Valley, days slow down. Morning coffee in the garden. Afternoons with a view of the mountains. And sometimes, even the earth decides to move.

🌵 Palm Springs – Where Palm Trees Cast Shadows
A city between architecture, history, and desert light.

🌵 Tahquitz Canyon – Between Water, Stone, and Legend
A hike between rock and water, with the quiet echo of an old story.

🌵 Shake It, Baby – An Earthquake in the Coachella Valley
A brief moment when the earth decides to move.

🌵 The Days In Between – The Light That Remains
Quiet days between outings, garden moments, and conversations.

Chapter 3 – On the Road

Travel also means movement.

Roads stretching through landscapes that seem almost carefully composed.

Sometimes you simply start driving, without knowing exactly what you are looking for.
And find something entirely different along the way.

🏜 Between Film Set, Faith, and Granite – A Winter Day in the Mojave

🌊 San Diego – Between Curves, Sea Air, and Sea Lions

Chapter 4 – A Detour to Arizona

Not every journey follows the map.

Some take small detours.

Sedona was one of those.
Red rocks, stories of energy, and a bracelet that would stay with us a little longer.

Sedona – Red Rocks, Vortices, and a Bracelet

Epilogue – Where the Circle Closes

In the end, every journey returns to where it began.

For us, that was Los Angeles.

A garden behind the house.
One last look at the Pacific.
Conversations growing quieter.

And that feeling of not only taking memories home – but also a little of that Californian light.

🌴 Los Angeles – Where the Circle Closes
A garden behind the house, one last look at the Pacific – and the sense that a little of that Californian light travels home with us.

Some journeys don’t really end.
They simply linger a little longer in the light.
