Lavender Dreams and the Art of Living

Southern France – Lavender Dreams & the Art of Living

„If today i was a graffiti, i would be one on a train that goes to the South of France.”
Alain Bremond-Torrent, running is flying intermittently

A Summer Between Lavender & the Côte d’Azur

This year, we chose a different kind of journey. No highways, no deserts – just gentle hills, the scent of lavender, and Mediterranean ease. Four weeks in Southern France. Between the Côte d’Azur, quaint villages, and what the French call savoir-vivre – which we simply feel as happiness.

Tourrettes-sur-Loup – A Village to Fall in Love With

Our holiday home sits high above the coast. Mornings greet us with sea views, evenings with the chirping of crickets. But the true treasure lies just outside our door: Tourrettes-sur-Loup.

A place that doesn’t clamor for attention – but quietly touches the heart. Narrow alleys with rough stone, lavender growing from cobblestone cracks, and shutters so colorful, they seem painted for watercolor artists.

We let ourselves drift. I lose my sense of direction, but not the feeling. It’s one of those villages where getting lost is part of the charm. And sometimes, I just stop, feeling the moment belongs to me alone.

Lavender Dreams Come True – En Route to Valensole

A heartfelt wish: the lavender fields of Valensole in June, just before harvest. The drive there is winding, sun-drenched, almost cinematic.

And then: suddenly, everything is purple. The fields glow as if painted, the air heavy with scent – spicy, sweet, calming. I breathe deeply, as if trying to take the summer home with me.

Lavender as far as the eye can see – the scent of summer, captured in violet.

We had a small bistro in mind. Instead, there’s pizza from a market stall, freshly baked, in hand – eaten on a park bench under plane trees. Not a grand meal, but a genuine moment.

On the Way Back – Two Small Discoveries

We don’t take the direct route back. Why would we?

Gréoux-les-Bains is a quiet spa town with romantic alleys. Almost too perfect to be true.

Southern France in passing: lavender, sun, a touch of luxury – sometimes you just need to stop to fully absorb beauty.

Allemagne-en-Provence surprises with lavender, a small castle, frozen in time, and the kind of silence you usually only find early in the morning.

Mougins – Art, Alleys & Delight

Another day, another place to cherish: Mougins.

Art is in the air – and in the alleys. Small galleries, boutiques, a hint of Picasso.

We stroll through the artist village and eventually find a quiet restaurant overlooking the hills of Provence. The food? Excellent. The wine? Southern. And the moment? A small gift.

Art and silence – statues that seem to tell stories in the heart of Provence.

Picnic & Pony Rides – A Day in Nature

For our family outing, we pack a picnic basket and good spirits – and head to the Forêt Communale d’Andon, a quiet forest area in the mountains.

The drive is adventurous, the air clear and cool. Once there, we find a shaded picnic spot with wooden tables. Among pines, birdsong, and plenty of breathing space, even a simple baguette – crispy, fragrant, French – tastes better than some three-course meals.

A small big moment: Arya’s first ride – between forest edge, pony, and a lot of trust.

For Arya, it’s a day she’ll never forget. Her first ride. Proud in the saddle, reins loosely in hand. I watch – smile, take photos. These are the moments that stay.

Arya’s first pony ride – a quiet path, a gentle pony, and lots of trust.

Southern France Enchants Us – Every Time Anew

Maybe it’s because we have family here. Maybe it’s because each visit feels familiar yet reveals new facets.

The view from our terrace of the shimmering ribbon of the Côte d’Azur at dusk – a quiet moment full of magic.

Whether lavender fields, medieval alleys, or picnics under pines – Southern France gives us memories that linger.

We come often – yet it never feels ordinary.

Southern France has long become more than a travel destination. It’s become a piece of home.
