Infernal Karma

Infernal Karma in the Rheingau

This story dates back a few years. At the time, we had a second residence for work reasons—on an old winery estate in the Rheingau. Sounds charming, doesn’t it?

Wake-up call with a spiritual twist

Imagine this: you’re half-asleep, caught between dream and daylight, when suddenly someone says:

“There’s bad karma in our bedroom.”

You’d hope it’s just part of the dream, right? But no—Reinhold was absolutely serious. And me? I had a feeling the day was about to take a turn…

Wine, energy—and some creative theories

I tried to reason with him: “Maybe it’s because we live on a winery and you don’t drink wine?” Worth a shot.

I even considered a bit of spiritual smoke-cleansing—walking through the apartment with smouldering herbs, hoping to chase the bad karma out. But Reinhold had other plans…

Unscrewing, shifting, scrubbing

The day quickly turned physical. We unscrewed things, pushed furniture around, swapped entire rooms. The bedroom became the office. The office became the bedroom. And naturally, the whole upstairs got a full mop-down—because why not?

A new room, new energy?

And now? We sleep in the former office. With a direct view of… this:

Will that improve the karma? I have my doubts. But each morning, I hope the good energy sticks around—at least for a little while.

One thing’s for sure: life with Reinhold is never boring. He’s always full of surprises.
