Australia – Vastness, Wilderness and a Touch of Wonder
Welcome to our journey of discovery through Australia.
With over 70 years of life experience – and still plenty of wanderlust at heart – we set out once again for the red continent.
This time with a focus on the west coast and selected highlights in the east.
Major classics such as Uluru, Cairns, Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne, Bendigo and Tasmania were already familiar to us from earlier travels.
This time, we wanted to explore new ground – away from well-trodden paths, yet no less fascinating.
West Coast – Wild Beauty & Space to Breathe
Western Australia feels rougher, wider – and somehow more original.
That is precisely what makes this region so appealing to us:
the silence, the vast nature, and the understated warmth of its people.
Perth – modern, green, manageable.
An ideal place to arrive and ease into the Australian way of life.
Perth – Hyden
Esperance was a true highlight –
a region that feels as if nature gave it everything it had.
Esperance and Montezuma’s Revenge
Denmark (WA) – green, charming,
with a hint of an artists’ colony.
Forests and wineries as far as the eye can see.
Denmark WA
Busselton – and yes:
we missed the legendary wooden jetty into the sea. 😜
Busselton
Cervantes & Pinnacles Desert –
bizarre limestone pillars rising from golden desert sands.
Perth – Fremantle – Pinnacles – Cervantes
East Coast – Calm, Gentle and Wonderfully Varied
After days immersed in the raw nature of Western Australia,
the east coast welcomed us with a different kind of beauty:
softly curved bays, friendly coastal towns,
and plenty of space to linger and enjoy.
Hyams Beach & Berry –
one of the whitest sand beaches in the world
and a small, stylish country town with cafés,
boutiques and weekly markets.
Australia East Coast – Jervis Bay – Berry – Hyams Beach
Sydney – the world city with a harbour view.
Opera House, ferries, gardens and culture:
vibrant, yet never overwhelming.
Sydney – Saving the Best for Last
Our Conclusion
Australia enchanted us once again – this time with new corners, quiet moments and breathtaking landscapes.
And sometimes the greatest adventure is wonderfully simple:
standing in front of an empty beach.
